In contrast to common belief, “big data” doesn't seem to be widely used or favored in Korea, according to a recent government report.

Research by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry showed on July 14 that over 80 percent of surveyed Korean companies do not use big data.

As to the inactive use, the companies pointed mostly to inexperience and weak expertise in data analysis and management.

Big data is a buzzword describing a massive volume of data that is too large to process with traditional techniques. It is widely considered to help businesses improve operations and make intelligent decisions.
